La La Land

When I was first introduced to La La Land it wasn’t because I had seen the movie. The 2017 Oscars was my introduction to the movie due to the best picture award being misread. Fast forward to 2023 my friend Ryan was talking about this musical that was filled with beautiful story storytelling and the truth of growing apart. After completing my homework and having a Friday night to myself I opened Netflix and decided to give the movie a try.

La La Land is truly breathtaking and captures the beauty of what love can look like when you’re trying to follow your dreams. Even though Mia and Sebastian supported each other as they grew more into their craft they changed. It’s not to say that change is what drives couples apart but it can teach you that sometimes a chapter with someone is meant to end. The dynamic between the music and dialogue displays the trials and tribulations between falling in love and chasing your dreams.

I won’t sit here and say that you can’t have both but it might help you learn how to navigate both if you desire to chase your wildest dreams and fall in love. For me personally, I’m chasing my City of Stars and my Mia & Sebastian Theme.

The next time you need a memorable movie to watch. Pop some popcorn. Grab your favorite drink. Cuddle up on the couch. Then immerse yourself in Another Day of Sun.
